Wolverhampton Wanderers “are very keen” to secure the loan signing of Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Julen Lopetegui’s squad at Molineux this month, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has told GiveMeSport.
Wolves are looking to keep themselves afloat in the Premier League after a slow start to the campaign.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Wolves have prioritised the loan signing of Wan-Bissaka – previously dubbed a “monster” by CBS Sports’ Aaron West – after the struggles of both Nélson Semedo and Jonny Castro Otto at right-back so far this season.
Crook initially broke the West Midlands side’s interest in the 24-year-old last month, but are joined by Crystal Palace in wanting to secure the full-back’s services during the transfer window, as Fabrizio Romano has previously alluded to GiveMeSport.
However, journalist Steve Bates has recently told GMS that Wan-Bissaka may have saved his career at Old Trafford, having been recalled to Erik ten Hag’s side with Diogo Dalot struggling with injury since the World Cup.
And Crook believes that Wolves would like to tie up the signing of the £90k-per-week but a deal may not be as easy to negotiate with the right-back slotting well into the Red Devils’ starting XI on his return to the side.
When asked about Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford, Crook told GiveMeSport: “In terms of Wan-Bissaka, I know Wolves are very keen but Crystal Palace feel that if he goes anywhere, he will go back there. But I think United would need to bring in a right-back as cover because Dalot has been injured since the World Cup. To be fair, Wan-Bissaka has taken his chance quite well.”

Having started academy graduate Dexter Lembikisa in Saturday’s 2-2 FA Cup third-round tie at Liverpool, Lopetegui may have just shown his lack of faith in Semedo, with Jonny being deployed on the left side of the defence.
Wan-Bissaka was handed just four minutes of Premier League action before the break for the World Cup, but following an injury suffered by Dalot, the right-back has found himself back in the regular starting line-up, having helped keep a clean sheet in each of United’s last three Premier League fixtures, according to Transfermarkt.
And with Wolves likely to prioritise the signing of a midfielder – with Mario Lemina linked with a move to Molineux according to the Daily Mail – a move for the Man United full-back may not be the priority it once was for both the Wanderers and the Red Devils.
