The chances that Wolves will land one of the highest-rated strikers in Poland went up significantly after Aleksander Buksa was seemingly frozen out by Wisla Krakow.
The 18-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the season and after refusing to sign a new deal, Buksa has been left out of Wisla’s last two fixtures after featuring in nine of the first 14 games of the campaign.
Wolverhampton Wanderers had been asked to fork up £4m in January but could now land Buksa on a free following the latest developments.
“He will fulfil the contract until June and then he will leave,” said Tomasz Jazdzynski, chairman of the Wisla’s supervisory board said.
“Aleksander Buksa was summoned by the management board last Friday to fulfil the promise he made with his father and sign the contract in the version in which it was agreed on last August.
“And he refused to sign. Therefore, no further talks with Aleksander Buksa will be conducted. The case is closed. He will complete his contract by June and then leave.”
The Poland youth international has been mainly limited to substitute appearances since making his professional debut, scoring four goals in 35 career first-team appearances (five starts).
