Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest side to have joined the race for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, according to Give Me Sport.

The United States international made a great start to the season in his quest to guide the Canaries back to the Premier League, but it wasn't long before he sustained an injury.

He picked up this injury when he scored against Huddersfield Town, with Lee Nicholls' challenge accidentally damaging the striker's ankle.

That setback could have disrupted his rhythm for the remainder of the season, but he has been a real asset since his return and has scored regularly, which has allowed him to attract interest from Premier League sides.

Not too long ago, Brentford had reportedly taken an interest in the forward, who could arrive at the Bees as a potential replacement for England international Ivan Toney.

There has been speculation about Toney's future for some time now - and Sargent could be a player that ends up coming in to compensate for his potential departure from the Gtech Community Stadium.

He isn't likely to be a cheap addition though, not just because of his performances this season, but also because of the fact his contract at Carrow Road doesn't expire until the summer of 2028.

This has placed the Canaries in a very strong negotiating position ahead of the summer transfer window - and it will give them the opportunity to either keep their star man or cash in on him for a high amount.

The Midlands side are "looking" at a potential move for the 24-year-old at this point, according to this report from Give Me Sport.

They are yet to discover his price tag and are unclear how likely to a move to Molineux is this summer for the American, but he is one of a number of players they are currently looking at.

Wolves are keen to strengthen their striker department, according to the same story, which could mean that Sargent ends up being at the top of their target list when the summer transfer window opens.

Josh Sargent should seriously consider Premier League return, but at the end of the season

Right now, Sargent just needs to focus on what he's doing on the pitch.

He needs to get to a point where he's higher than other Championship stars on the shortlist of top-flight teams.

At the moment, he still has work to do and if he can thrive on the pitch, it will only be a matter of time before he returns to the top tier regardless of whether that's with the Canaries or not.

Whilst he still has work to do on the pitch, he should concentrate on that and then reassess his future in the summer.

For now, he should only use this top-tier interest as fuel to continue doing well. These links should not be a distraction.
