Wolverhampton Wanderers have been charged with failing to control their players after the angry scenes which marred last weekend’s Premier League clash with Leeds.

Julen Lopetegui’s side were beaten 4-2 at Molineux and reduced to nine men after Jonny was sent off in the 84th minute, before Matheus Nunes also saw red deep into stoppage time for reacting angrily to the referee’s decision not to award a free-kick in the build-up to Leeds’ fourth goal.

Nunes – who was not actually on the pitch at the time – has subsequently had his red card rescinded, but the FA has hit Wolves with a charge nonetheless.

The club has until 27 March to respond to the charge, and will likely be hit with a fine if they are found guilty.
