Wolves contact PSG over loan move for Hugo Ekitiké

L’Équipe are reporting that Wolverhampton Wanderers have stepped up their interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitiké (21).

Ekitiké made a cameo appearance on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season, however, he has not featured since. He reportedly enraged the club’s hierarchy when he refused to move the other way in a swap deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani. Whilst Kolo Muani did ultimately make the move to the Parc des Princes, Ekitiké has seemingly not been forgiven for his refusal to facilitate a player-plus-cash deal, and he has been ostracised ever since.

Wolves and Wolfsburg lead race to sign Ekitiké

The Frenchman is therefore desperate for a move this January. Despite his lack of exposition, Ekitiké is nonetheless receiving significant interest. Wolfsburg have approached PSG over a paid loan move, which doesn’t include an option to make the move permanent.

Wolves, who as reported by RMC Sport, had already enquired about Ekitiké, are now taking their interest further, according to L’Équipe. The Premier League side are continuing to discuss a loan deal, which, unlike Wolfsburg’s offer, would include the option to make the move permanent. Wolfsburg and Wolves are undoubtedly the two teams leading the race to sign the former Stade de Reims forward. Since Ekitiké’s future seemingly does not lie at the Parc des Princes, Wolves’ offer to take the Frenchman off PSG’s hands on a permanent basis could hand them an advantage.
