Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore will have a new factor to consider after the club dismissed manager Bruno Lage, with the player currently weighing up where his future lies, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Over £120 million was splashed by the Molineux outfit in the summer transfer window but, after a slow start to the season, Jeff Shi and the Wolves board have taken decisive action.

What is the latest news on Traore?

Wolves confirmed on Sunday that they had taken the decision to dismiss Lage from his role as manager, having been in charge since June 2021. It is a move that may benefit Traore, however, with the winger yet to start a top-flight game under Lage this season.

The 26-year-old has fewer than 12 months remaining on his contract in the West Midlands, with his £46,000 per-week deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.

Traore spent the second half of last season out on loan, joining La Liga heavyweights Barcelona for a temporary spell. Still, the Catalan side ultimately turned down the chance to sign him permanently for £29 million.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Juventus have shown an interest in signing the former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa man and could make their move in January, with an initial loan on the cards.

Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that talks between Traore and Wolves will wait until the winter World Cup in Qatar has finished.

What has Jones said on the situation?

The journalist believes that Lage’s sacking is just another factor for Traore to consider when deciding where his future lies.

Jones adds that the forward – who has previously been described as ‘unplayable’ by Jurgen Klopp – will continue to weigh up his options.

When asked how Lage’s sacking could influence Traore, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It will be a new thing for him to consider. Traore is currently already weighing up everything in front of him: his gametime, the set-up at Wolves, proposals from other clubs.”

Was Lage’s sacking the right call?

Saturday evening saw Wolves crash to their fourth defeat of the Premier League season, losing 2-0 to West Ham in East London, leaving them with just one win from their opening eight matches.

It has left them inside the relegation zone, having scored just three goals throughout the campaign, while the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds above them boast a game in hand.

After splashing so much money in the summer, it always appeared likely that Shi and the board would eventually lose patience with the displays.
