Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore ‘holds all the cards’ over his future and the Molineux club may have to attempt to find a buyer in January, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The West Midlands outfit spent more than £120million during the summer transfer window, but Traore could be set to head through the exit door in the coming months.

What’s the latest news involving Traore?

Traore returned to Wolves during the summer as Barcelona, who snapped up the winger on loan for the second half of last season, opted against making the switch permanent for £29million.

But the Premier League side have been left in a precarious position as his £46,000-per-week deal is set to expire next summer and he could sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas side at the turn of the year.

Journalist Dean Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Wolves will hold talks over Traore’s future when the domestic season is put on hold thanks to the World Cup in Qatar.

According to Tutto Juve, Serie A giants Juventus are showing an interest in the 26-year-old and may look to pounce when the transfer window reopens for business in January.

The report suggests an initial loan move to the Allianz Stadium could be negotiated before Traore, an eight-cap Spain international, joins on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Traore?

O’Rourke believes the ball is in Traore’s court and Wolves are not in control of the situation due to the lack of time remaining on his contract.

As a result, the journalist feels head coach Bruno Lage may be left with no choice but to sanction the wide-man’s departure at the turn of the year.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s in a strong position. He holds all the cards right now, I think, and not Wolves.

“If Wolves are to do something, then they’re going to have to do it in January and try and sell him.”

Should Traore be sold by Wolves in January?

Traore has previously turned down several contract offers, so Wolves may be left with little option but to cash-in when the transfer window reopens as they will not want to see him leave as a free agent a matter of months later.

It is clear that he is not in the forefront of Lage’s plans in any event, having only been afforded 115 minutes of action since his summer return from the Nou Camp.

Wolves broke their transfer record when they paid £18million to end Traore’s Middlesbrough spell four years ago, but a return of 12 goals in 159 appearances suggests it may be the right time to part ways.
