Wolves 0-0 Fulham: Mitrovic misses penalty in goalless draw
Wolves' slow start to the new Premier League season continued with a 0-0 draw against newly-promoted Fulham at Molineux.
There was nothing left to separate Portuguese coaches Bruno Lage and Marco Silva, though the latter will likely be the happier after the Cottagers extended their unbeaten run - despite Aleksandar Mitrovic missing a late penalty.
Silva opted to keep Marek Rodak between the sticks instead of starting Bernd Leno, and the Slovakian made two smart stops early on to keep out Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan.
Fulham then came inches away from opening the scoring twice themselves, but Max Kilman and Ruben Neves made goal-line clearances to keep it at 0-0.
A mix-up between Rodak and Tosin Adarabioyo nearly allowed Wolves in, but Daniel Podence couldn't keep his cool and the visitors got away with one.
After the break, Morgan Gibbs-White just about got on the end of a Rayan Ait-Nouri cross, but couldn't keep his effort from close range down.
Fulham were awarded a penalty late in the second half after Ait-Nouri tripped Bobby De Cordova-Reid, but man of the moment Mitrovic's spot kick was saved by Jose Sa.
VAR double checked the incident to make sure Sa was on his line when the save was made, and it was indeed and Wolves held on to take a point.
