New Barcelona signing Wojciech Szczęsny could be afforded the opportunity to stay put with the club for the 2025/26 campaign.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the latest on the Pole’s future.

Szczęsny, of course, last week put pen to paper on terms with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

Brought in as a replacement for long-term injury absentee Marc-André ter Stegen, the former Arsenal and Juventus man has committed to a deal in Catalunya’s capital through the summer of 2025.

Szczęsny actually came out of retirement to join the Blaugrana, after opting to call time on his playing days earlier this summer.

The assumption, in turn, was that his stint in Spain had no chance of lasting beyond the close of the campaign.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then ‘Tek’, in fact, could yet remain in Barca colours for a further 12 months.

As per a report from MD:

‘He has signed for a year but, if he does well and adapts to the team and the club, he does not rule out renewing if offered.’
