Austria
The Austrian national team ran out 2-0 winners against Slovakia in Bratislava. Stefan Lainer marked his international comeback after his recovery from lymph node cancer with a place in the starting XI, before being substituted at half-time. Maximilian Wöber (photo: IMAGO/GEPA pictures/ Johannes Friedl) came on at the break, ensuring that there was Gladbach representation throughout the game. Leipzig’s Christoph Baumgartner scored the fastest international goal in recorded history with a remarkable solo strike after just six seconds, before Andreas Weimann added a second in the 82nd minute to secure victory for Ralf Rangnick’s side.
Switzerland
Nico Elvedi was an unused substitute as Switzerland drew 0-0 with Denmark in Copenhagen. Former Borussia goalkeeper Yann Sommer was taken off due to injury, with current Gladbach stopper Jonas Omlin called up to the squad to replace him.
Italy U19s
The Italian U19 team celebrated a second successive victory in European Championship qualification, securing a 2-1 win over Czechia. Borussia’s Fabio Chiarodia played the full 90 minutes for his team.
