Sergio Reguilon’s arrival at Tottenham means Ryan Sessegnon will be restricted to a “bit-part” role, according to Paul Robinson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the ex-Tottenham goalkeeper believes the 20-year-old will now be restricted to appearances in cup competitions and the occasional European game.

Spurs made a U-turn on Sessegnon’s future last week and they are now willing to listen to loan offers for the full-back.

Sessegnon started just four Premier League games for Tottenham last season after signing from Fulham and Robinson now believes his involvement will be even more limited this campagin.

He told Football Insider: “You’ve got Ben Davies there as well.

“As far as wingers go, he’d do well to get in that side, if you look at the quality they’ve got going forward in those areas.

“He played higher up for Fulham and got a lot of goals playing in that position but you’d think it would be difficult to break into the side in that position.

“At left-back now, Reguilon has signed for a reason. He’s not come to sit on the bench behind Ben Davies or Sessegnon.

“Sessegnon, if he stays, will be a bit-part player in the cup competitions and the odd European game.

“Reguilon will be the number one left-back without a shadow of a doubt.”

Spurs paid a reported £25million fee for Sessegnon last summer but he made just 12 appearances in all competitions as he struggled with a hamstring injury.

His last Premier League appearances for the north London club came in January where played the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Norwich City.
