Furthermore, Rust and Jones report that the winger was given assurances over his role at the club by Pep Guardiola after a disappointing summer. The winger missed out on selection in England’s squad for last summer’s European Championships. Lastly, Rust and Jones add that Jack Grealish reported to Manchester City’s pre-season as one of the champion’s fittest players.

When he is at his best there is no doubt that Grealish is a key player for Manchester City. He is a different type of winger to City’s other widemen. Savinho and Jeremy Doku are more dynamic options for Pep Guardiola. But the control and link-up play Grealish provides something different to City’s play.
