Fresh off their Champions League runner-up finish, Inter Milan have already started planning for next season.

There is still uncertainty over Inter’s financial situation and what will be their budget in the transfer window despite the guaranteed remuneration from UEFA’s top competition.

Inter manager Simone Inzhagi has laid out his desired targets during a summit with the club’s hierarchy, which includes Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi and Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Inzaghi’s future had been up in the air before he won the trust of Inter’s top brass by reaching the Champions League final as well as winning the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.

The Italian manager has also insisted that he wants to keep Romelu Lukaku, whose loan spell at San Siro is set to expire.

Inter are planning to open talks with Chelsea soon to discuss Lukaku’s future and the possibility of signing Kalidou Koulibaly on loan.

The Senegalese defender has been identified as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who is heading to Paris Saint-Germain.

Signing a striker is a priority for the Nerazzurri, with Edin Dzeko reportedly on the verge of leaving the San Siro for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The 37-year-old has defied his age by delivering top-class performances alongside Lautaro Martinez.

Joaquin Correa is also wanted at Fenerbahce, leaving Inter deprived of attacking options heading into next season.

Inzaghi can’t afford to move forward without enough depth in attack, and he has plenty of time left in the transfer window to sign a reliable striker.

Marcus Thuram was on Inter’s wishlist for a while, but Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are the front-runners to sign him.

Mateo Retegui is also on their radar, with recent reports claiming Inter were in pole position to sign him.

The 24-year-old rose to prominence following his impressive goal-scoring stint at Tigre before making his debut with the Italian senior team months ago.

Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun has also been linked with Inter.

Balogun caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs following an impressive loan spell at Reims last season, where he scored 21 goals in Ligue 1.

The Gunners are set to make a decision over Balogun, and he could cost more than €30 million.

Jonathan David is another option after netting three goals more than Balogun last season.

The Canadian striker has been the primary source of goals for Lille over the last few seasons, and he is poised to leave the French outfit for a top club this summer.

Inter have been previously linked with David, who would represent a significant investment for the future.

Roberto Firmino could also head to Inter following his exit from Liverpool.

Inter have had success with their Bosman transfers in recent years, and Firmino could be next in line.
