Chivas drew with Monterrey on Sunday evening, a move that puts them further away from the liguilla qualification zone.
Both clubs began the game in solidarity with Veracruz’s protest and did not play the first minute of the match.
Monterrey drew first blood in the 13th minute when Jesús Gallardo scored, giving the home team the early 1-0 lead.
After going down 1-0, it was as if Chivas had awakened and began to play like a team on a mission.
Showing more quality in the attacking end, Chivas was able to get their breakthrough late in the first half when Miguel Ponce rattled the nets in the 42nd minute.
However, that was all that Chivas was able to do. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, which does not help Chivas as they now will likely miss the liguilla qualification zone.
