Wissam Ben Yedder (34) has successfully avoided pre-trial detainment ahead of his court appearance on the 15th of October for sexual assault while intoxicated.
The former AS Monaco and Sevilla player had been released from police custody on strict judicial supervision. The terms of which stated that Ben Yedder could not leave his house between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., he could not attend bars or nightclubs, he had to receive twice-weekly check-ins, and he was ordered to undergo treatment.
The Nice public prosecutors’ office appealed his release at a hearing yesterday, arguing that the forward should be detained before his October trial. However, according to a report by L’Équipe, the court of appeal rejected the request from the public prosecutor this morning.
His lawyers had proposed that the forward would admit himself to a hospital where he could undergo a treatment plan to address his alcohol addiction. However, L’Équipe reports that he will receive outpatient care and continue his ongoing psychological treatment.
