Windass starts: The predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Oxford on Saturday
Football League World
Sheffield Wednesday will be on a high after a superb 4-2 victory over Plymouth last time out in League One but they’ll face another hard test this week against Oxford.
Both sides involved in this game will have hopes of a potential promotion come the end of the campaign and the three points here could be vital. If the Owls bag a victory, then it should tie them on points with their opposition in this fixture and will bring them closer to the top six.
If Darren Moore wants to have any chance of bagging a promotion from the third tier this season though, then they will need to be picking up points against those around them. This will give them the chance to make a real statement and prove that they can be play-off candidates.
Who looks likely to start for them in this tie then?
It should be a fairly unchanged lineup for the club this weekend, especially considering how well they performed last time around.
Perhaps the only change could be in attack, with Josh Windass starting upfront alongside Lee Gregory. While Sow did solidly enough in the last tie – he was the most accurate passer to play 45 minutes or more against Plymouth – it could be good to give Windass more chance in an advanced role. Florian Kamberi may be available for this one too, so he could feature, but he is more likely to start on the bench.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was linked with a move away from the club too but it looks like he could be set to stay with the Owls, so should retain his place on the wing.
In defence, Jordan Storey has joined up with the club from Preston North End but considering their victory in the last game, it’s also likely that he too won’t be thrust straight into the starting eleven.
