The Clarets endured a tough 2023/24 Premier League campaign as they finished second from bottom on 24 points, after picking up just five league wins all season. Their manager, Vincent Kompany, then departed for Bayern Munich and Scott Parker has since been announced as his successor.

Parker has previous experience of getting clubs out of the Championship having led both Fulham and Bournemouth to second-tier success in the past. The only reservations about Parker will be regarding his previous managerial role as he failed at Club Brugge in Belgium.

However, his track record in the Championship is enough to excite the Burnley faithful as they will be hoping to make an immediate return to the Premier League this term.

It has been a rather busy summer transfer window so far. Mike Tresor and Maxime Esteve have both seen their loan deals be made permanent.

Forward Andreas Hountondji, who scored 14 goals in 28 Ligue 2 starts last season, was also signed, which may turn out to be a great bit of business considering one of Burnley's star forwards could be set for departure.

Wilson Odobert was one of the Clarets' few standout performers last season, but they may be about to lose their young talent to the Premier League.

The latest on Wilson Odobert

As first reported by Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider, Ipswich Town are plotting a move for Burnley's Odobert this summer. The Tractor Boys are preparing for their first Premier League campaign in 22 years and will be hoping that Odobert can help them avoid relegation.

It has already been an exciting window for Ipswich, having brought in forwards Omari Hutchinson and Liam Delap on permanent transfers, as well as highly-rated defenders Jacob Greaves and Ben Johnson. Odobert looks to be their next acquisition, but he will not be cheap for the Tractor Boys by any means.

Former England international and current EFL pundit Carlton Palmer recently claimed that Burnley should reject any offers less than £20 million for their attacking star.

Wilson Odobert earns £10,000 per week at Burnley

As well as the fee paid to Burnley, Ipswich must think about the winger's contract situation and his current wages. Capology have estimated that the 19-year-old earns £10,000 a week, not including bonuses, which works out to be an annual base salary of £520,000.

When comparing those figures to the Ipswich Town wage bill, it appears that Odobert would be one of their highest earners. Only Christian Walton (£10,000), Samy Morsy (£12,308), George Hirst (£17,115) and Axel Tuanzebe (£20,000) would allegedly be earning equal or more per week at Portman Road.

Odobert is not among the top earners at Burnley, with Josh Brownhill (£45,000 p/w) topping their wage bill list, according to Capology.

£10,000 per week is certainly not a high salary for the Premier League so Ipswich may be tempted to secure his services for next season.

Wilson Odobert would be a strong signing for Ipswich

At 19 years old, the French winger would be a superb acquisition if Ipswich do opt to pay up the sizeable fee that Burnley will be demanding. Odobert signed for the Clarets last summer after coming through the ranks at PSG before impressing in Ligue 1 for Troyes.

His first season in English football did not go as planned from a team perspective, but from a personal perspective there was a lot to be proud of, hence the current interest from newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Odobert scored three and assisted three in 25 Premier League starts as part of a very underwhelming Burnley side. He was one of their few bright sparks in attack, and his biggest achievement was probably scoring a goal and assisting one against Fulham back in December.

His versatility means he can play on both wings and through the middle, which will be key for Kieran McKenna who likes his team to threaten defences and score plenty of goals.
