Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig vice captain Willi Orban is set to extend his contract at the club, with his current deal expiring in 2025.
Talks between Orban and Leipzig are in the final stages and it seems as if it is ‘a matter of days’ before the two parties reach an agreement. The new contract is likely to be a two-year extension valid until 2027.
Orban joined Leipzig in 2015 from hometown side Kaiserslautern for €2m and has been a mainstay in the defence ever since while the long-term injury to Péter Gulácsi last season meant Orban had to step in as captain and lifted the DFB Pokal in May as well as the Super Cup back in August.
The 30-year-old is currently out with a ligament injury suffered on international duty with Hungary at the beginning of September. The injury to Orban has opened a spot for summer signing Castello Lukeba in the starting 11.
