Will this be Liverpool’s starting lineup to play Manchester United tonight?

Liverpool travel to play Manchester United tonight in the Premier League with Jürgen Klopp’s hopes of a top-four finish fading by the minute.

With United gifting all three points to Leicester City on Tuesday, it all but ended The Reds’ chances of Champions League qualification this season. However, until it’s mathematically impossible, Liverpool must battle on. A win at Old Trafford would be a rare highlight in an otherwise miserable season for Klopp and co.

Liverpool’s injury crisis has been ongoing since October. Klopp is currently without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joël Matip, Jordan Henderson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Naby Keïta, and Ozan Kabak.

The first tough choice Klopp must make is in central defence. Nat Phillips should start but will young Rhys Williams keep his place alongside Phillips for such a high-profile clash? Many feel it could be too much to ask of the defender and that Klopp would be better off dropping Fabinho back into defence. I think Klopp may surprise us, however. I’m backing Williams and Phillips to start as centre-halves with Fabinho in midfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will continue as normal on the flanks with Alisson Becker in goal for Liverpool.

James Milner’s experience may be called upon at Old Trafford. Milner could come in to replace Thiago Alcântara, starting with Gini Wijnaldum and the aforementioned Fabinho in the middle.

The front line could see the return of Bobby Firmino in place of Diogo Jota. Firmino will probably start in attack with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané.

Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs Manchester United: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Williams, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mané
