Liverpool welcome Danish club FC Midtjylland to Anfield tonight as Jürgen Klopp’s side looks to make it two wins from two in the Champions League.

The Reds won 1-0 away to Ajax in their opening group game last week while Midtjylland went down to a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to Serie A side Atalanta.

Let’s have a look at how Liverpool’s starting eleven might look for this game.

Alisson Becker returned between the sticks for the 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday night. The Brazil international replaced Adrián who had been starting in his place while Alisson was recovering from his injury. Alisson should start again tonight.

During Monday’s pre-match press conference, Klopp confirmed that the trio of Thiago Alcântara, Joël Matip and Naby Keïta are all likely to miss Tuesday’s match.

“It’s still what I said last week, we look day by day. “It looks like we will need a few more days. For tomorrow night, they probably will not be ready.”

Liverpool are also without Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsimikas.

The Reds should have a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson. This is the kind of fixture Robertson may well have been rested for but with Tsimikas currently injured, there are not much options for cover at left-back.

Curtis Jones could get another start in midfield tonight. I think Jordan Henderson will start in the ‘6’ role and James Milner could be the third midfielder.

Up front, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané may be rested with Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota playing in the centre and on the left, respectively.

With five substitutes still allowed in the Champions League, it’s likely Klopp will again use this rule to its fullest, spreading the workload throughout the squad as much as possible.

Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs FC Midtjylland: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Gomez, Robertson; Henderson, Milner, Jones; Salah, Minamino, Jota
