Jorginho believes Nicolas Jackson can be one of the “biggest strikers” in the world and backed him to bounce back from his red card.
Chelsea slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Flamengo despite going into half time 1-0 up thanks to Pedro Neto’s second goal in as many games.
The game turned on it’s head as Chelsea imploded in six second half minutes which saw them concede twice, whilst Jackson was sent off for a horrific challenge four minutes after coming off the bench.
Jackson, who was celebrating his 24th birthday had an afternoon to forget as he picked up his second red card in his last five games.
The Senegal international was heavily criticised by John Obi Mikel following the incident, and Jackson has issued an apology on Instagram.
In Jackson’s absence Liam Delap will be handed a huge opportunity to stake his claim to be first choice striker heading into next season.

Jackson’s discipline issues have been well documented during his time in England and he needs to mature as a player, however former Blue and Flamengo midfielder Jorginho has backed him bounce back.
“Jackson is so good and he is young and he has the quality the club needs,” he said as quoted on X.com.
“He will surpass this little mistake. I think the red was clear, but it is just a small detail for a big player, and he can be one of the biggest strikers in the world.”
Jackson struggled last season and managed just ten Premier League goals, and questions marks have been raised over his future, which are likely to get louder following this latest incident.
Whilst the expectation is Jackson and Delap will be Chelsea’s strikers for next season, the Blues are still in the market for another forward.
