West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan has been linked with the vacant Everton job.

Frank Lampard was sacked yesterday and, according to The Telegraph, Corberan is in the running after the impressive job he’s done turning things around at the Championship club.

But would that be a good appointment for Everton? And should Albion be worried?

It would be a big call from Everton but he is an immensely talented coach.

They will look at the near-instant impact he’s been able to have at West Brom, where he has turned them from bottom-half strugglers to play-off frontrunners in a matter of months, and feel that he could do a similar job at Goodison Park.

The togetherness he’s built at The Hawthorns in a short time has helped him get the best out of a talented squad that were underperforming and there are certainly parallels to be drawn between their early season struggles and the situation at Everton.

That said, it took him time to work his magic at Huddersfield Town and that’s not something the Toffees have right now.

They’re right to consider him and Albion fans should be a little worried but I wouldn’t blame them for opting for a safer bet like Sean Dyche.

Praised for his coaching methods on multiple occasions by his current crop of West Brom players, it’s clear his time on the training pitch has paid dividends for Albion who look like a different animal under his stewardship.

Considering his work in England with both Huddersfield Town and the Baggies, it’s no surprise that he’s being linked with a move to Everton.

He may not have managed in the Premier League before – but he could be the breath of fresh air that the Toffees need and this is why it would be worth taking a gamble on him.

A gamble for the Merseyside outfit at this stage is the last thing they need but it feels as though something radical is needed to turn things around at Goodison Park.

West Brom supporters should be slightly worried about this news – but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Corberan turned down this potential Premier League approach in favour of staying at Albion.

He certainly has unfinished business with the Baggies and hopefully he’s only at the start of his journey at West Brom.

I can see this potentially happening.

If Everton are genuine about their interest in Carlos Corberan and decide to pursue the Spaniard, they would be going after a very good manager and one who, if not now, will soon be managing in the Premier League either way.

Corberan would be an exciting appointment for Everton; he is the type of manager who likes to play attacking free-flow football with lots of possession and would entertain the Everton supporters. There would be a risk to this deal as Corberan has never managed in the Premier League but considering what he’s done at Huddersfield and West Brom in the short time, you can understand the links.

West Brom fans should be worried as if Everton make an attractive offer and make it clear Corberan is the manager they want, then the Spaniard could depart the Hawthorns and move to Goodison Park in a heartbeat. It would just be whether or not Corberan has the loyalty to stick with Albion and see the season through.
