Will Maurizio Sarri Leave Lazio if Claudio Lotito Comes up Short?

More than half of January has passed, and to this date, Lazio has only sent away players on loan, failing to sign anyone due to the now-infamous liquidity ratio. The club has to make sales to bring in reinforcements, stated Sporting Director Igli Tare, but exactly how many players does the club have to ship away before they can sign someone new?

Coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly been promised a striker, a left-back and a centre-back by President Claudio Lotito, who has said he is going to try and be more decisive this transfer window. Lazio’s top choice for their attack is said to be Mainz’s Jonathan Burkardt; unfortunately, they are not interested in a sale. Concerning the backend, rumour has it that Sarri’s favourite at left-back was Chelsea’s Emerson. However, Lyon has stated that they are not willing to cancel his current loan, so he is no longer a potential option either this January.

Many Lazio supporters are now worried that is going to be another failed transfer window with attempted last-minute acquisitions from Tare. However, what should worry everyone more is the question of Sarri’s desire to remain in Rome should Lotito comes up short on his promises to the Italian tactician.
