England have been boosted by the return to training of Leah Williamson after she suffered an ankle injury during their quarter-final victory over Sweden.
The England captain limped off before the final period of extra-time, as the Lionesses went on to win via penalties.
England will next face Italy on Tuesday, as the defending champions look to book their spot in the final of Euro 2025.
Leah Williamson was an injury concern for England going into their semi-final with Italy.
However, the Arsenal defender was seen in training alongside her England teammates on Monday morning.
It comes as a major boost for the Lionesses ahead of the semi-final in Geneva.
Sarina Wiegman has kept the same starting XI over England’s last three games, and losing captain Williamson would have been a major blow.
Despite the positive injury update, Williamson will still need to pass a late fitness test to prove she can start against the Italians.
England defender Esme Morgan said that the Lionesses are optimistic that Leah Williamson will overcome injury to play against Italy.
Morgan replaced Williamson during the Euro 2025 quarter-final win over Sweden.
Niamh Charles and Maya Le Tissier are also options for the Lionesses should Williamson miss out.
However, with Williamson returning to training, it appears likely that she will be ready to start for England in their clash with Italy.
Williamson will have to prove her fitness to Wiegman, who could also see the argument of resting her captain for the final should they make it.
However, Williamson is very important to England and is their best defender, meaning it would be a huge blow for her to sit out the game or start on the bench.
Leah Williamson limped off in extra time of England’s clash with Sweden after rolling her ankle.
She appeared to land awkwardly after clearing a corner and initially stayed on the ground.
Williamson got back to her feet and attempted to play on but was replaced, meaning she sat out the penalty shootout.
Sarina Wiegman said after the game that Williamson did not feel ‘100 per cent’.
The fitness of Leah Williamson for the rest of the tournament could have a big say on whether England win Euro 2025.
At the time of writing, the Lionesses are second-favourites behind Spain to win the trophy they lifted three years ago.
