Sheffield Wednesday continued to keep the pace at the top of League One over the weekend, beating Port Vale 1-0.

A goal from Will Vaulks midway through the second-half was enough to secure that win, which leaves Wednesday third in the table – a point behind Ipswich Town and two behind league leaders, Plymouth Argyle.

The relentlessness of League One means Darren Moore’s side are back in action tonight, with a huge fixture away to Plymouth. It’s the headline game in the division and one that many will not want to miss.

Moore’s squad is full of talent and he’s got a depth of options.

However, in our minds, there’s little need for change after a 1-0 win over Port Vale, despite a short turnaround from Saturday to Tuesday.

As our graphic shows, we expect to see the same shape in a 3-4-1-2/5-2-1-2 in and out of possession.

David Stockdale is an obvious selection in goal, whilst Reece James, Ben Heneghan and Michael Ihiekwe, flanked by Marvin Johnson and Liam Palmer, have been the back-five in the last two fixtures. Simply, why would Moore change that?

Barry Bannan is one of the division’s best midfielders, so will play whenever fit, whilst Vaulks was the goalscorer on Saturday afternoon.

In terms of the attack, Josh Windass links the play, whilst Michael Smith has played 90 minutes in four straight fixtures. Lee Gregory was set to be assessed yesterday, which might well convince Moore to retain the service of Mallik Wilks in attack, given his assist at the weekend.
