Eintracht Frankfurt have kicked off their pre-season preparations with two days of comprehensive tests.
Over the past couple of weeks, Tuta, Kaua Santos and Jessic Ngankam returned to Frankfurt to work on their rehabilitation, but on Monday a large portion of the first-team squad was back in the heart of Europe too.
While the rest of the state of Hesse is only just starting their summer holidays, the Eagles are already back from theirs and hard at work – including youth academy graduates Amil Siljevic, Noah Fenyö and Ebu Bekir Is – for two days of comprehensive pre-season tests.
Most of the players are already familiar with the work flows and facilities from previous years, but for summer signing Jonathan Burkardt, the all-encompassing check-up at the ProfiCamp was a first. The new arrival, who joined from Mainz last Friday, had an extra shift after the day’s assessments were finished in the form of an official unveiling at a press conference in the media room.
“I feel very good physically and I’ve gained a lot of stability, especially over the last season,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot about knees and muscles. I want to keep pushing forward in that area in a good environment here. I can develop in that regard too.” The forward avoiding using the term “strain” when asked about Eintracht participating in three competitions this season, instead saying: “It’s a reward to be in three competitions and I can cope with it. I’ll do everything I can to stay healthy throughout the campaign.”
With that in mind, the performance tests began at 08:00 CEST and continued into the late afternoon. The players went through a total of 15 checkpoints, at which Eintracht’s conditioning and health experts subjected them to thorough evaluations, from anthropometry, measuring body proportions, to a dental check-up. The players will head out to the training pitch for the first time on Wednesday. The session, which begins at 11:30 CEST, will be behind closed doors but will be streamed live on EintrachtTV. The first public training session will be on Friday at 15:00 CEST, but there are no more tickets available.
