Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface could be on the move at the end of the season, with Napoli among the candidates to land his signature.

Boniface could be one of the leading storylines in the upcoming summer transfer window, insists Fabrizio Romano.

A relatively unknown entity until this season, the 22-year-old forward spent three years at Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt before completing a €2 million switch to the Belgian First Division A last summer.

During his time in Norway, he tallied 23 goals and eight assists in 63 appearances before taking the Belgian top flight and the Europa League by storm in 2022/23.

In addition to bagging seven league goals for Union SG this term, Boniface has thrived in Europe’s second-tier competition, racking up five goals and two assists to help his side reach the quarter-finals.

His eye-catching exploits against Bundesliga surprise package Union Berlin in the previous round earned him the Europa League Player of the Week award, putting him on the radar of several top clubs.

Romano believes Boniface could be one of the protagonists in the summer transfer window due to his extravagant potential and relatively small price tag.

It’s understood that he’ll be available for around €10/15m despite his contract at Union SG running out in 2026, making him one of the hottest prospects in the market.

Why Napoli?

Napoli could be a perfect destination for the up-and-coming striker of Nigerian descent if superstar frontman Victor Osimhen departs runaway Serie A leaders.

As one of the architects of the Partenopei’s unrelenting Scudetto push, the Nigeria international has become one of Europe’s most-wanted strikers, with a host of Premier League elite on his tail.

Known as a stubborn negotiator, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is unlikely to give up his talisman without a fight, as he’s already planning to tie the 24-year-old down to a new contract.

However, if extension talks go sideways, the Italians should have a contingency plan in place to replace the leading Serie A goalscorer this season.

Boniface could be an option for Napoli due to Union SG’s affordable asking price and the player’s wages of only €300,000 per year.

On top of a relatively small cost, the ex-Bodo man can play anywhere along the frontline, something head coach Luciano Spalletti would appreciate, given his constant squad rotations.
