The latest goal netted by Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski proved a costly one for the club, from a financial standpoint.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

Lewandowski, for his part, is fresh off adding to his tally for the campaign over the weekend.

Inside the three-minute mark of Barca’s La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano, the Pole converted Lamine Yamal’s assist, to set Xavi’s troops on their way to an eventual 3-0 triumph.

And yet, whilst the Blaugrana faithful were celebrating as much, those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital may well have been quietly cursing their luck.

This comes with Lewandowski’s strike having activated a clause in the 35-year-old’s contract with the club.

As per the aforementioned MD, for each season in which Lewa manages 25 goals across all competitions, Barcelona owe €1.25 million to Bayern Munich.

With his latest finish having seen the veteran frontman hit the quarter-century mark for the 2nd year running, the Camp Nou brass will therefore be forced to open their chequebook once more.
