An insight into the collective feeling of ‘concern’ at La Liga giants Real Madrid, on the back of Brahim Díaz’s decision to switch international allegiance to Morocco, has come to the fore on Thursday.

The name of midfielder Brahim has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines in Spain across the week to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 24-year-old had at long last come to a definitive decision on his future on the international stage.

Recent speculation had seen it widely claimed that Brahim was at the heart of something of a tug-of-war, between the respective football federations in Spain, and the aforementioned Morocco.

As much comes with the former AC Milan man having been eligible to represent the former through his parents, and latter through his paternal grandmother.

Amid a fine individual campaign to date, the understanding was that Spain boss Luis de la Fuente had all but decided to call up Brahim, with a view to La Roja’s upcoming friendly meetings with Colombia and Brazil.

It therefore came as something of a surprise when, this past Sunday, it was revealed that the diminutive midfielder had instead chosen to represent Morocco.

Brahim, in turn, was on Wednesday afforded his maiden call-up to the Atlas Lions’ ranks by head coach Walid Regragui.

Whilst those behind the scenes in the Morocco setup will no doubt be overjoyed with at long last tying up a player whom they are understood to have been chasing for years, though, how has the reaction, in comparison, been at Brahim’s club?

An insight into as much has today been provided, by way of The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana.

And the info points towards Real Madrid as having been left less than impressed with the entire saga.

As much comes amid mounting ‘concern’ over the treatment of Los Blancos’ stars by the Spanish Football Federation.

‘Club sources describe their disappointment that another young player who they feel should have been treated as a priority for Spain has been passed over’, it is explained.

A similar sentiment is understood to have spread in the offices at the Santiago Bernabéu upon Nico Paz being snatched up from under the noses of Spain by Argentina.

Such shortcomings on the part of the RFEF are in direct contrast to the lengths gone to in an effort to ensure that Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, for example, did not seek out an international future elsewhere.

Precisely as much has been ‘much commented on’ at Real Madrid, amid the insinuation that breakthrough talents on the other half of the Clásico divide are perhaps being afforded preferential treatment by Luis de la Fuente and his La Roja staff.
