An explanation for the absence of Barcelona talent Ansu Fati from the latest matchday squad at Brighton & Hove Albion has tonight been provided.
Brighton, with whom wide-man Ansu is currently on loan, marked their return to action a short time ago.
The Seagulls made the trip to the Gtech Stadium, for a Premier League meeting with Brentford.
When all was said and done, Roberto De Zerbi’s troops were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a 0-0 stalemate.
After a rare fruitless outing for his side in front of goal, post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the omission of a headline member of his attacking ranks was put to Brighton’s boss.
Speaking in a press conference a short time ago, Roberto De Zerbi was drawn on the whereabouts of the aforementioned Ansu Fati.
And the Italian went on to reveal that the 21-year-old is currently working ‘alone’, in an effort to improve his ‘physical condition’:
“Fati and Valentin Barco I didn’t decide to play with them in the squad for this game. I wanted them to work alone to improve their physical condition.”
De Zerbi continued:
“He (Fati) is working very well, but from him I have different expectations. I haven’t changed my opinion about Ansu Fati. He is one of the best talents in the world.”
