Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly decided against joining Barcelona this summer.

The 19-year-old is attracting interest from across Europe following his standout 2018/19 campaign.

But according to reliable Onda Cero journalist Alfredo Martínez, De Ligt believes his sporting project would not have been met by Barça.

He is said to be leaning towards PSG, who have offered him a significant first-team role and incredible salary (believed to be €20m per year).

Barcelona were hoping to persuade the teenager with their footballing stature, Lionel Messi and team-mate Frenkie de Jong, but those plans have since failed.

Manchester United have also expressed an interest in De Ligt but are currently ‘too unstable’ for an elite talent like him.
