Why Liverpool could beat Milan to signing of Adarabioyo

Milan are monitoring Tosin Adarabioyo, but the abolishment of the Growth Decree could see the Rossoneri miss out on the Fulham defender, favouring other clubs reportedly interested, such as Liverpool.

Adarabioyo’s Fulham contract expires at the end of the season, so he is already free to negotiate with other clubs ahead of a free transfer in July.

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto has confirmed to Caught Offside that Milan are keeping a close eye on Adarabioyo, but a move for the 26-year-old centre-back may not materialise as Serie A clubs can no longer rely on the Growth Decree, which allowed Italian sides to save 50% from gross wages of players coming from abroad.

Moretto says there is ‘no certainty’ regarding a Milan offer for Adarabioyo as the Serie A giants are assessing the financial impact of a potential transfer.

The Standard in England has reported that Liverpool are also interested in the English defender, so Milan’s reluctance to send an offer in the coming weeks, may give the Reds the edge in the race for Adarabioyo.

A Milan move for the Fulham defender also depends on their next coach given that Stefano Pioli could leave in the summer despite a contract expiring in 2025.
