Corinthians are struggling to seal a deal with Ecuadorian side LDU Quito over the departure of Junior Sornoza.
LDU would like to repatriate the midfielder but sees the high wages of the Corinthians midfielder as a hindrance to complete the negotiation.
In an interview with Radio La Red in Ecuador, club director Esteban Paz pointed to Brazilian football’s high wages as a constant difficulty in securing players from the Brasileirão.
“Salaries in Brazil are very high and it’s becoming very difficult to sign Junior Sornoza.”
LDU Quito want to bring the player in on a year-long loan, though Corinthians would much prefer an outright sale. However, the two sides would be willing to meet halfway and accept a loan with an option to buy.
Sornoza played 48 games in 2019, where he scored a goal and contributed a whopping 11 assists.
