Relevo report that Iñaki Williams did not travel to Ghana on Monday to join the Black Stars after being diagnosed by Athletic Club’s medical staff with “a general condition that requires him to rest”.

The statement issued by Athletic revealed that the player had been assessed earlier in the day and following this diagnosis, he has been prescribed treatment before being assessed again tomorrow, Tuesday, “in anticipation of being able to travel and join the Ghana training camp as soon as possible”.

Athletic add that the medical services of the Ghanaian federation have been informed of the condition of the player. A few minutes before the medical report from the Bilbao club was released, Ghana head coach Chris Hughton had confirmed the presence of Williams in the list of 26 players called up to play in the Africa Cup of Nations to be played from January 13 to February 11 in Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars will begin their training camp on Tuesday in the city of Kumasi, where they are scheduled to play a warm-up match against Namibia on January 8.
