The emergence of Yann Bisseck as a starting-quality defender has changed Inter Milan’s calculations regarding Tiago Djalo.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who explain why the Nerazzurri will not go all-out to battle Juventus for the Portuguese’s signature.

Inter have already done a fair bit of work on trying to lay the groundwork for signing Djalo.

The 23-year-old has been firmly on the Nerazzurri’s radar for some time.

And the fact that, at present, Djalo’s contract with his current club Lille runs out at the end of the current makes him all the more attractive as a target for Inter.

The Nerazzurri’s penchant for hunting down free transfer opportunities is hardly a secret.

But the arrival of Juventus on the scene has potentially changed the picture.

The Bianconeri don’t want to wait until the summer to go head-to-head with Inter to sign Djalo.

They have already formed an agreement with Lille to sign the Portuguese this month for a relatively small fee.

And now, Juventus are aiming to convince Djalo to sign for them this month. The defender could decide to reverse his decision of waiting to join Inter.

Inter will not, FCIN confirm, rival Juventus for Djalo in January.

The Nerazzurri do not see the 23-year-old as a target for the current transfer window. Only for the summer, when he could arrive without a transfer fee.

Inter do not see any great urgency to sign Djalo.

Whilst the club had been in negotiations with the Portuguese and his representatives, there was more of a sense that there was a hole in their defensive options that they needed to fill.

But a player has emerged to fill that hole.

Young German defender Bisseck has looked like a starting-quality defender over the past few weeks.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will not prioritize signing Djalo to such an extent they sign him for a fee this month.

Rather, Inter’s strategy remains to go after the Lille defender on a free transfer. This will mean that none of the transfer budget goes towards him. It can be spent elsewhere.

Inter would still be happy to sign Djalo, a long-term target.

But missing out would not be the end of the world with Bisseck finding the form he has.
