Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson sparked discussion after announcing his decision to join Palmeiras, snubbing an offer from both Lazio and Juventus.

The Biancocelesti had been hoping to keep the 31-year-old forward, whose contract expires in June, and had been in contract negotiations with his entourage for months now, trying and failing to agree the terms of a new deal.

In the meantime, Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli had been working on a four-year deal worth circa €4 million net per season, and recent reports claimed Felipe Anderson had reached a verbal agreement ahead of the summer, putting him on track for a move to Turin.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Felipe Anderson was keen to secure his future plans ahead of the summer but wasn’t able to push through a deal with Juventus, who wanted to wait until the end of the season before finalising his arrival.

Whilst a verbal agreement was reached, the details hadn’t been finalised, requiring a few more meetings between the club and his entourage.

Last week, Palmeiras emerged with a convincing offer, and Felipe Anderson was tempted by the idea of a return to Brazil, helping facilitate talks and push through a deal.
