Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona will be keeping a particularly close eye on the performance of one member of the defensive ranks at Rayo Vallecano during the upcoming meeting between the clubs.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Andrei Rațiu as the player in question.

Rațiu, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar individual campaign to date.

Amid Rayo Vallecano’s shock charge towards European football, the Romanian has been a pivotal figure, shining on his way to a goal and two assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.

And such exploits, it is understood, have not gone unnoticed on the part of the transfer team at Barcelona.

Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at right-back with a view to next season, the Blaugrana, it is claimed, have earmarked Rațiu as a leading option.

The 26-year-old’s profile is considered ideal for Hansi Flick’s setup, with Deco and co. therefore giving real consideration to an offer for his services this summer.

Upon Rayo and Barca locking horns in a La Liga meeting on Monday night, the latter will therefore make use of the clash as something of an audition for Rațiu.
