Barcelona have been preaching calm over Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registration, but more than a few are starting to believe they have overplayed their hand after La Liga unregistered both on their website.

However their briefing to the local press is that they remain convinced that both will be able to be registered and play in the second half of the season. They were hoping for La Liga to approve their €100m sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou for the next 20 years and count the deal towards their salary limit. Yet La Liga wanted guarantees of payment before they did so, say Sport.

Their information is that there will be further developments on the third of January, when all of the payment will have been received, and they will in theory return to within their salary limit. MD note that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) cannot approve a new licence without La Liga’s approval, something that is yet to occur, despite Barcelona applying for a new licence. El Chiringuito recount similar information, saying that Barcelona have submitted all of the necessary documents, and only La Liga’s request for more information is behind the delay.

Certainly it will be a nervous wait for Barcelona. La Liga’s statement, that Barcelona have not presented any new evidence that would allow them to register contradicts that information. If Olmo and Victor are left unregistered, they will not be able to play for the rest of the season, an event that is being talked about as the potential end of President Joan Laporta’s tenure.
