The powers that be at Barcelona are keeping a watchful eye on the situation of Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt at Bayern Munich.

That’s according to Sport, who have this evening provided an insight into ongoings behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The subject of stopper De Ligt’s future has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Germany over the course of recent weeks.

This comes amid mounting claims that the former Juventus man has lost the faith of head coach Thomas Tuchel, and could therefore be on the move in the near future.

Bayern boss Tuchel, for his part, has moved to play such speculation down, but De Ligt himself is viewed as being increasingly frustrated with his situation in Bavaria.

Premier League giants Manchester United, meanwhile, are keen to take advantage of the situation, ready to move for the signature of the 24-year-old at the request of boss Erik ten Hag after the pair’s stellar stint together at Ajax.

And this could, in turn, have a knock-on effect for the aforementioned Barcelona.

It is of course common knowledge that Bayern have identified Blaugrana stopper Ronald Araújo as something of a priority target with a view to the present and future alike.

Should De Ligt be sent on his way, the Bundesliga champions are therefore expected to make use of the funds raised by way of a fresh push for the Uruguayan international.

Barcelona, for their part, have made it clear time and time again that Araújo is absolutely not for sale.

But Bayern have not yet been deterred, with the Bavarians ready to tempt the Blaugrana stalwart by offering to double his current wage packet in Spain.
