Tottenham take on Everton in the Premier League this weekend – in what should be a really tough fixture.

Despite Ange Postecoglou being on a high after recent Tottenham Hotspur results, they face one of the most in-form teams in the league in Everton on Saturday.

Sean Dyche’s men are flying at the moment. They’ve won four in a row in the Premier League, in a resurgence that despite a hefty points deduction, has seen them shoot up to 16th in the table.

Due to this, Postecoglou and his coaching staff will have to field a top first-team squad to counteract Everton’s impressive stars. This will likely include Pape Matar Sarr and Cristian Romero, although the pair will have to be super careful against the Evertonians.

Two Tottenham players risk suspension against Everton

Romero and Sarr are just one booking away from a one-game suspension.

Both of these players are on four bookings in the Premier League season, meaning one more earns them a one-game suspension.

This means they would miss the clash against Brighton on the 28th of December – which is an important one in the fight for European spaces.

Postecoglou will have this in the back of his mind, given the fact the rule for five bookings comes to an end soon. He’ll be watching the two with eagle eyes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When does the one-game suspension for five bookings end?

These two names have to avoid a booking over their next two fixtures to escape an automatic one-match suspension.

After Game Week 19 in the Premier League, it then requires a total of 10 bookings over the season for players to receive a ban – although they double the punishment, with this being a two-game suspension.

Romero is no doubt the player his manager will be worried the most about heading into the Everton clash. The hot-headed Argentine does tend to have a moment of sheer madness in him.

However, he’ll be desperately needed for the Brighton clash, with centre-back options few and far between at Hotspur Way.
