After a hiatus of almost two years, Game of Thrones is back.
That got us thinking: how do Europe’s top football clubs compare to those battling for the Iron Throne?
Luckily for you, we’ve got all the answers.
A house draped in former glories, nobody could match their might way back in the past.
Not only do they feel entitled to throne, they’ve finally emerged to make a fiery play for it now.
Nothing matters but winning.
Not style, not loyalty, and not what others think of you. They just win at all costs because because they like how it feels to crush the opposition.
They ruthlessly wipe out everything in front them in their quest for domination. They’ve dominated their own land for some time but now it’s time to take over across the border.
Luckily for them, they’ve recently acquired an all-conquering beast to help them carry that out.
You can do everything right – have a great leader, a great team – but is it enough?
Like the Stark children, Spurs have only just managed to return home. And like the Starks, they always appear to be the unfortunate victims.
Nobody is as stylish. Like House Martell, Barcelona have a style they are proud of and one that catches the eye of the neutral.
And while they look ever so cool in their own lands, they’ve just not mastered trips abroad like some of their rivals.
All that money and for what?
Despised by their neighbours, who have strolled away from them in recent times. A million miles from the throne.
They upset bigger rivals to sit on top for a time, they looked ready to build a dynasty.
But huge debts took their toll, promising youngsters were thwarted, and they’re now the plucky underdog.
The Cleganes are famous for two things. The Mountain and The Hound.
They are, ultimately, enormously powerful brutes. And if they played football, they’d be the first names on a Diego Simeone teamsheet.
Like PSG in France, the Greyjoys dominate their own domain, the sea.
Beyond that? You’ve hardly ever had to worry about them … until their eccentric new leader arrived.
Brothers in arms, well-respected group by all, they work hard above all else.
But they aren’t what they were and are the first to face the wrath when their ruthlessly powerful rivals decide to strike.
And, of course, they have ‘the wall’.
This one needs no explaining.
