Jadon Sancho’s future dominated the headlines throughout much of last summer, the saga surrounding the Borussia Dortmund winger lasting right through the transfer window.

Manchester United were linked heavily with a British transfer record move to sign the star, who has developed into one of the most exciting young talents since swapping Manchester City for the Bundesliga as a teenager.

Having flourished amid regular first-team football in Germany, speculation has surfaced once again regarding a potential return to the Premier League.

So for those of you who like to bet online and are on the lookout for a site worth visiting, we’ve looked at how the bookmakers view the race to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.

Arsenal – 18/1

Arsenal have been priced as distant 18/1 odds to sign Sancho from Dortmund this summer, with few anticipating the Gunners have the finances to pull off what would represent a stunning coup.

The lure of Sancho’s native London could prove persuasive should Arsenal pursue a deal, though any hopes are likely to depend on whether the club secure qualification to the Champions League, with victory in this season’s Europa League offering their last avenue to a place amongst Europe’s elite.

Mikel Arteta is hopeful of raising funds this summer through the sales of several unwanted stars, the likes of Eddie Nketiah and loanees Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi amongst those linked with an exit and each could raise significant sums.

Sancho’s arrival appears unlikely with attentions focused elsewhere however, even if it would represent a statement of intent from a side clinging onto the coattails of England’s elite.

Manchester City – 14/1

Could Sancho make a return to Manchester City?

The winger departed the Etihad four years ago in search of regular first-team football, having found a glass ceiling in his path to becoming a fixture in Pep Guardiola’s side.

The move has proven an inspired one with Sancho since thriving in the Bundesliga and he would return as bona fide star following his performances at the Westfalenstadion.

Whether Guardiola would be prepared to sanction a club record move for a player who departed for just £8m in 2017 remains to be seen, whilst City have an abundance of talent in wide areas including the likes of Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres.

City’s priority this summer is likely to be the addition of a new centre-forward, potential talks with Dortmund likely to be centred around Erling Haaland rather than Sancho.

Liverpool – 8/1

Interest from Liverpool has circled widely in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his side, the Premier League champions having endured a disappointing defence of the title.

Liverpool’s fabled front three have failed to fire this season with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane particularly disappointing, the need for fresh impetus clear with Sancho offering an intriguing alternative.

Each of Salah, Mane and Firmino are approaching 30 and Sancho could be a perfect long-term replacement, his comfortability in several positions and incredible productivity – providing 59 league goals and assists in 66 appearances over the two seasons prior to this one – making him an idealistic signing.

Liverpool will hope to raise funds through the sales of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson, the departures of that trio potentially freeing up both money and space for the recruitment of a star forward.

Chelsea – 6/1

Chelsea are 6/1 second favourites to sign the boyhood Blues’ supporter, the west Londoners prepared to invest once again after their lavish spending last summer.

Thomas Tuchel will be provided funds and has targeted the signing of a new centre-forward, though recent reports have linked Chelsea with a sensational double swoop for Sancho and Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku.

Those additions would hand Chelsea one of the most dangerous forward lines in world football, as the club look to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Tuchel’s reign has began in promising fashion with the Blues into the finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League, the addition of extra firepower perhaps proving the difference as they seek a first league title in five seasons in 2021/22.

Manchester United – 6/4

Having been linked with Sancho throughout last summer’s transfer window, Manchester United remain the favourites to sign the winger with the Red Devils retaining their interest.

The right-hand side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack has proven a problem position with a number of players having failed to convince, Marcus Rashford, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood all utilised at various times this season.

Rashford’s preference for the left and Greenwood’s potential long-term future in the centre offers up an opening on the right for Sancho, in what could prove to be a frightening all-English forward line for the next decade.

Reports this week have suggested United’s controversial owners are prepared to sanction incomings this summer in a bid to appease the growing unrest at Old Trafford and the signing of Sancho would go some way to bridging the gap to champions elect Manchester City.
