“Who we are” – Gary Mac lays down the Rangers law | OneFootball

Hot on the heels of Ibrox Noise’s recent content, to mixed reaction, over our desperately poor result v Motherwell and generally weak start came Gary McAllister’s agreement that Rangers should be doing better than we are, but where we are in the league we’d have taken at the start of the season.

No one denies top of the table is what we want, but there’s been a lot of division over the performances, split between ‘get a grip we’re top of the league’ and ‘but if we keep playing like this we won’t stay there’.

And Gary Mac seems to be gently in the middle with a subtle nudge towards the latter.

He said:

The ‘who we are’ part is exactly what Ibrox Noise has been drumming home the past few days, to a disappointingly high level of disagreement from some quarters of our support.

We received a message from a well-known Rangers group, who will remain nameless for now, endorsing our attitude and expressing exasperation that some fans seem to want to defend poor performances and the ‘get a grip’ stance.

‘Who we are’ is exactly why we cannot.

Gary is bang on – Rangers expect sky-high standards, because that’s what it is to be a Ranger. He’s equally bang on that if we’d been offered top of the table before we started the season, we’d have taken that too. But the polish with which it’s been achieved has lacked conviction.

And he addresses that as well by admitting we should be better off than we are.

Which we hope concludes any further dissenting voices to our reasoning.
