A quiet January transfer window can often be a sign of a club in control, and Liverpool’s lack of activity in terms of signings reflects their confidence in the current squad. With Arne Slot’s side in a strong position, there was little need to make major reinforcements.
The Reds had no pressing need to enter the market, with key players returning to fitness just in time. Trent Alexander-Arnold remains the only injury concern, but the returns of Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez, and Curtis Jones ensured that Liverpool had no urgent gaps to fill. As a result, any expectations of a late move in the January transfer window were swiftly put to rest.
While there were no incomings, Liverpool did field interest in some of their players. Darwin Nunez was reportedly attracting attention from Saudi Arabia, but the club had no interest in letting him leave mid-season. However, his future may be revisited in the summer. Federico Chiesa, who had struggled for game time, was linked with a move back to Serie A, but his recent appearances suggest he may still have a future at Anfield.
Though Liverpool made no signings, there was still movement in the squad, particularly among the younger players. Several promising talents secured loan moves to gain valuable experience, while others left Anfield permanently.
Stefan Bajcetic completed a temporary switch to Las Palmas after his spell at RB Salzburg ended early. Dominic Corness joined League Two side Gillingham, while Kaide Gordon secured a move to Portsmouth, and Calvin Ramsay headed to Kilmarnock in Scotland. Additionally, Marcelo Pitaluga made a permanent move to Fluminense, and Tom Hill signed for Harrogate Town.
One deal still pending confirmation is Jayden Danns’ loan move to Sunderland. The young striker was undergoing a medical in the North East on Monday, and barring any setbacks, he is expected to complete the switch.
