West Bromwich Albion are said to be eyeing a move for Celtic defender Jack Hendry this summer, with 90min revealed that the Baggies are one of a string of Premier League and Championship sides who are interested in the player.

The 26-year-old centre back was previously on the books of Celtic’s academy during his younger years as a teenager before moving on to take in other academy spells with the likes of Peterborough United, Dundee United and Partick Thistle before making his name in first team football with the latter.

He was then snapped up by Wigan Athletic after making just five appearances for the Scottish side and would go on to spend two seasons at the club as he went out on loan to both Shrewsbury Town and MK Dons in order to gain vital league experience.

Hendry then moved on from the Latics and returned to his native Scotland with Dundee, for whom he would impress for before getting his big move back to Celtic in January 2018.

Since joining the Hoops, the defender has only been afforded 27 appearances and as a result of this, he has spent time out on loan with Melbourne City in Australia and in more recent times KV Oostende in Belgium.

His loan spell with the Belgian side in the season just gone is said to include an option for the club to buy the centre back outright, meaning that they could steal ahead of the Baggies in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Capable of playing the ball out of defence well with his feet and exceptionally strong in the air, Hendry has been recognised by Scotland at international level and is seemingly set for a bright future in the game as he enters his prime years as a professional.

Oostende appear set to sell the player to the highest bidder this summer after agreeing to sign him permanently and his value could yet increase further if he has a good Euro’s with the Scot’s this summer.
