The forward opened the scoring on her 100th game in the competition – a crazy, topsy-turvy encounter, which saw both teams take the lead before youngster Lauren Hemp netted a pivotal late leveller to maintain our place atop the table.

Although she admits City were disappointed not to have clinched all three points, especially as Chelsea have a game in hand, White asserts Mahon’s side should take a lot of positives from the comeback, adding she feels there are more twists to come in the hunt for the crown.

“It was a pretty crazy game!” she stated. “There were a lot of goals – it was a great game for the neutral.

“We can take a lot of heart and desire from it. There are so many things still to happen in the season.

“We wanted to win but Chelsea are a great team. It was a great game to be involved in. We are proud because we gave everything.

“It’s two teams coming head-to-head. Everyone makes mistakes. We were going for the win which can potentially result in conceding goals. It was a transitional game.

“We are a little disappointed but there are plenty of games left and an international break to look forward to.”

Asked whether Nick Cushing’s departure had affected City’s focus or style, White explained very little has changed with Mahon at the helm.

“It’s been important to keep things similar,” she added.

“Alan said with Chris Williams and Brian Eastick that we don’t want to change much.

“They’ve been implementing things but it’s been great having him as manager.

“It’s a new face and a new voice which is different to Nick, but ultimately, nothing much has changed.”

Reflecting on her 100th league appearance and her ninth goal of the season, White expressed her delight.

“I didn’t realise (it was my 100th appearance) until my husband told me!” she said. “I’m delighted to have made that milestone in a City shirt.

“I was delighted to get on the scoresheet but I want to win at the same time so there’s a bit of balance there.

“Hopefully, there’ll be a lot more games to come.”
