Tottenham’s new ground is already behind schedule and suffered yet another setback on Friday afternoon.

A water main pipe burst at the €1bn stadium and caused hundreds of litres to flood the new White Hart Lane, which was supposed to be completed in August.

It took 45 minutes to stop the flood, which affected the fifth and sixth level of the massive North London structure.

A source said: “It was a mains water pipe and one of the workers accidentally burst it while doing a job.

“They couldn’t turn it off so it went on for at least 45 minutes and everyone was soaked.”

“The damage will probably be extensive but they’re just working out now exactly what damage it has caused.

“It was also flooding onto live electrical panels and wiring. At first, we all stopped working and left the room.

“They’re obviously putting the finishing touches to the stadium now and it’s already behind so this won’t help.”
