Arsène Wenger hit a major milestone on Saturday as he took charge of his 800th Premier League game.

Only Sir Alex Ferguson, with 810, has managed more games in the competition and barring something unexpected, Wenger will catch Ferguson on Boxing Day when Arsenal face Crystal Palace.

The remarkable longevity had us thinking about which managers have coached the most Premier League games.

Ferguson is king (for now) and Wenger is by far the most tenured active manager but some of the names below them may surprise you.

Here is the full list:

* Denotes active Premier League manager

Sir Alex Ferguson: 810 matches (Manchester United) Arsène Wenger*: 800 matches (Arsenal) Harry Redknapp: 626 matches (West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers, Southampton) David Moyes: 498 matches (Everton, Sunderland, Manchester United) Sam Allardyce: 487 matches (Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United) Mark Hughes*: 433 matches (Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers) Steve Bruce: 393 matches (Birmingham City, Sunderland, Hull City, Wigan Athletic) Martin O’Neill: 359 matches (Aston Villa, Leicester City, Sunderland) Alan Curbishley: 328 matches (Charlton Athletic, West Ham United) Graeme Souness: 319 matches (Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Southampton)

The next active name on the list is Tony Pulis, with 320 games.

That means that Wenger has managed more Premier League matches than the next two active Premier League managers combined (Hughes and Pulis).

Chapeau.
