Birmingham City have endured a tough season so far.

Ever since John Eustace's sacking back in October, Blues supporters have been forced to watch mediocre football, as their side have plummeted down the league table.

The objective for the latter stages of the season for Birmingham is to simply survive in the Championship, and with multiple clubs in a similar position, the competition for safety is tough.

It's not been the start to the Tom Wagner era that anyone would've hoped for - in part due to the Blues owner's decision-making - but if they can stay up, they will hope to build again under Tony Mowbray.

This poor 2023/24 campaign for Birmingham begs the question as to whether their supporters are getting their money's worth at the moment. Are their season ticket prices justifiable, when compared to other Championship clubs?

When Birmingham announced their season ticket prices ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, there was a noticeable increase from last season's prices.

Managing Director, Ian Dutton, commented on this, saying "Last season, we were not able to give supporters the product they deserved, and, therefore, reduced prices accordingly. But as we enter a new era at Blues, these prices are not sustainable."

This season, the cheapest adult season ticket costs £300, with the most expensive priced at £550. While these prices are very reasonable for second-tier English football in the modern era, there has certainly been a big rise in prices from last season at St Andrews.

For example, the price of a season ticket in the Tilton Road Stand has increased from £325 to £395, which is quite a drastic hike.

So, how does the price of a season ticket at St Andrews compare to the price at other grounds around the EFL Championship?

Looking at each Championship club's cheapest adult season ticket, Birmingham's price is very fair. The club actually offer the 20th most expensive adult season ticket in the league, with just four clubs ranking level or lower.

Only Hull City (£300), Cardiff City (£299), Huddersfield Town (£249) and Queens Park Rangers (£242) do not offer a more expensive season ticket than Birmingham City, which is good news for Blues supporters.

Putting prices and performance side-by-side this season, it is safe to say that Hull City supporters are getting the best value for money in the Championship, as their side find themselves in an exciting race for the play-offs.

As for Birmingham, while performances on the pitch have been extremely disappointing, little argument can be had about the prices of their season tickets. Some good news for Birmingham supporters is that their cheapest adult season ticket is £49 cheaper than at their local rivals, West Brom.

Another reason for Blues supporters to be satisfied by their cheapest adult season ticket price is that bottom-of-the-table Rotherham United's cheapest is priced at a whopping £405. In comparison, that is £20 more expensive than the cheapest adult season ticket at league leaders, Leicester City.
