Charlton Athletic striker Chuks Aneke is said to be of interest to half a dozen Sky Bet Championship sides this summer, with TeamTalk reporting the news recently.

The likes of Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and Coventry City are all said to be eyeing a move for the 27-year-old who notched up an impressive 16 goals in all competitions last term for the Addicks as they just missed out on a play-off spot in Sky Bet League One.

Aneke is set to become a free agent in any case this summer after turning down Charlton’s offer of a new contract and as a result of this, he is free to discuss terms with as many clubs as he wishes.

It is said that the striker favours a move to the Championship as opposed to America or Scotland, as it would in theory allow him to eventually move into the Premier League in the long run.

The three aforementioned sides did receive a boost in their pursuit of the former Arsenal man the other day as it was revealed by the Bristol Post that Bristol City are not in the race for the player’s signature, with Nigel Pearson said to have little interest in bringing the 27-year-old to Ashton Gate.

Reading are also said to be in the race for the ex-MK Dons target man and they too have made an offer for the player who turns 28 in July of this year.

With Aneke seemingly set to decide his future over the next few weeks, the race is on for each club to show that their proposal is better than the others that are said to be on offer.
